The Wallace Civic Center opened it's doors to the public in 1970. It's founder, George Wallace, a
Fitchburg resident and benefactor, funded the Center's constructions as a recreational as well as an educational institution for Fitchburg citizens and residents throughout New England.

The Center's construction began in May of 1969, and took about a year to complete.

Over the last 25 years, the Wallace Civic Center has hosted dozens of sports events, musical  concerts, speakers, ceremonies, and numerous educational forums in the Center's Planetarium.

Take a trip down memory lane and view the pictures below. They chronicle many historic events, from the first days of the Center's construction, to momentous occasions such as the moon rock viewing from the first trip to the moon, to famous speed skater Carmelita Landry's visit and performance.
